F.V.S.E.D. is Fundamentally Vibrant Steps of Evolution in dance. It is the exploration and experimentation of both the commonalities and differences between African, Modern, Hip-Hop, and Jazz dance realms. It was created to uncover the vast possibilities that exist as a result of uniting these staples of DANCE. By using the signature elements of each as tools, I hope to further the expansion of artistic creativity, the empowerment of people working as a “TEAM,”
and my own personal growth as a pioneer of dance.
Each class is broken down
into 3 stages:
Begins with an improvised warm-up, where the class follows me in a succession of cardiovascular movement to warm up the bodies more vital parts (i.e. head/neck, shoulders, hips, legs and back).
Next we move to the across the floor segment where I incorporate movement patterns based on material to be used in the combination.
This also includes daily familiarization with leaps and turns.
Lastly, the class learns the days’ combination. This is done through a well-crafted, slowly orchestrated break down of phrasing. Count by count, move by move, we successfu
lly learn the material. By the end of class we execute the learned combination repeatedly as both a unit and in groups. Most importantly we begin and end each class as a TEAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The universal goal for FVSED is to forge an atmosphere of spiritual elevation that is conducive to creative flourishing. It is designed to engage the mind body and spirit. We intellectualize the movement (counts and rhythms) in our minds, it then accesses our physical being (movement and energy) and finally we interpret it through our souls (freedom, trust and release)
The class can be adapted to fit 1, 1.5 or 2 hour time frames.
